Judge orders Pendley out as BLM director

On September 25, 2020, a federal judge ruled that William Perry Pendley has illegally served as an official in the Trump Administration in a challenge to his acting appointment brought by Montana Governor Steve Bullock. Pendley oversaw key portions of the administration’s agenda to expand fossil fuel development on federal land while undermining climate science.

Jamie Williams, president of The Wilderness Society Action Fund said,

“The Trump administration is now reaping what it has sown. By trying to circumvent the law, it has undermined its own extremist agenda. Public lands belong to all of us, and the stewards of these lands must represent our national interest. Pendley had no business in this job.”
